Four-week bedtime course: measure sleep separately from satisfaction
Real sources · Illustrative request · Sample version
Customer question
Fictional v1 offers weekly online guidance and ten-minute daily practice to voluntary employee participants.
Can procurement see prespecified sleep outcomes, completion and measurement limitations?
Self-reported sleep, satisfaction and attendance are different outcomes. A general relaxation course is not automatically a validated chronic-insomnia treatment.
Measurement timeline from baseline to follow-up
| Check / stage | Chart content |
|---|---|
| Before start | Consent, data permissions, measures and crisis-support roles |
| Week 0 | Prespecified sleep measure, existing support and baseline characteristics |
| Weeks 1–4 | Actual dose, adherence, withdrawal and adverse experiences |
| Week 4 | Same sleep measure; satisfaction in a separate table |
| Agreed follow-up | Durability and missing-data checks; employer sees agreed aggregates only |
No improvement percentage is invented. Confirm measure version, language applicability, comparator and follow-up duration during design.
Analysis excerpt
| Check | Finding / sample content | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Measure selection | PROMIS adult domains provide self-reported sleep measures, not objective sleep monitoring | Fix the measure version and scoring method |
| Interpretation limit | AASM guidance concerns specific behavioral/psychological treatments for adult chronic insomnia | Do not describe satisfaction or participation as treatment efficacy |

Acceptance criteria
- Question, primary outcome, comparator and timing align; satisfaction and health-support outcomes remain separate.
- Actual service dose, adherence, withdrawal, adverse feedback and missingness are checkable.
- Permissions distinguish individual records and employer summaries. Reporting allows no change, unfavourable and uncertain findings.
